MY CALENDAR OF EVENTS

TUESDAY

On the read  6 a.m. stopped at McDonalds and realized my daughter left her purse at my house, so had to go back, than goodness we hadn't went very far !

First stop was Kingdom City, had to go to Nostalgialville, but too early, not open.

Next stop Lambert's for lunch, yummy !

Memphis bound-arrived about 4 p.m. Check in, headed to the Peabody Hotel for the duck walk with the Ultimate Elvis' honorary escorting.  So crowded, couldn't see much !

Got on the trolley for a ride around Memphis, then back to the Holiday Inn for the Images of the King Show at 7 p. m.  Thirteen ETA's performed.

WEDNESDAY

Delivered the wreath to Graceland and then toured Graceland.  I saw that the wreath wasn't put on a stand, so I went to buy one.  All sold out in Memphis, so I went to a flower shop in Mississippi, very nice ladies there and bought one.  Took it back to Graceland they promised to put the wreath on the stand for me.  Bobby was singing in the tent at 12 p.m. so I made sure we were there, not to miss Bobby sing.  He was great, as usual and he even sang "Just Pretend"  for me! ) Then there was some time to shop and go thru some of the museums.  There was an Elvis Meet up at Marlowe's at 4 p. m.

So off we went to Marlowe's, very crowded, but we got seated and had very good lunch.  They were giving away tickets for door prizes, and they called my number!  Excited to see what I had won.  Bill Black's son and daughter were there talking about their late father getting inducted in the Rock ' n' Roll Hall of Fame.   Very emotional for them.  What I won was a picture of that ceremony and they autographed it for me !

Now back to the hotel for the 2nd. Images of the king contest at 7 p.m.

THURSDAY

This was a busy day for me.   Went to the Fan Club Presidents meeting at the University of Memphis.  Met lots of Elvis fans there and Sandi Pichon spoke.  Her and I were judges in Branson for an ETA contest in 2005.   Michael Hoey was the guest speaker. He wrote the screenplay for Elvis' movies, Live a Little and Love a Little.  Got his autograph also.

Now back to the hotel to get ready for the Memorial Dinner at the Peabody hotel, hosted by Elvis' nurse, Marion Cocke.  This was the highlight of the trip!  Elvis was on the big screen
there and started the evening off singing "Welcome to My World." Dinner was wonderful and Terry Mike Jeffery, Duke Mason and the Jordinares performed!  Ronnie McDowell was also there.

George Klein talked about his new book, Elvis, my Best Man, to be released in January.  The candlelight ceremony there had Elvis on the big screen singing "I Believe," "Take My Hand," and others.  Very moving.  Terry Mike sang "Blue Suede Heaven," and lots of others.  He even sang "Just Pretend "(for me). Everyone that attended the dinner was invited to the Memphis Mafia Elvis memorial on Sunday, but I wasn't able to attend.

FRIDAY

Bobby Simkins had a breakfast meet-up at the Kettle Restaurant at 10:30.  He had quite a crowd of supporters there and the owner played his CD, while we ate.  They now have an autographed picture of Bobby in the restaurant.  Check it out the next time in Memphis.

Now it is off to visit St. Judes Hospital.  Beautiful memorial gardens and of course the grave site of Danny Thomas and his museum.  Beautiful chapel there with the stained glass windows.

Then we went to the book signing of the new book.  The Genuine Elvis written by Ronnie McDowell, Edie Hand, and Joe Meador.  Great meeting them and getting the signed book.

Now back to the hotel for the Images of the King show.  Now it was down to the finalists.  So it was quite entertaining.

SATURDAY

Early morning got up and drove to Tupelo to see Elvis' birthplace and museum.  Lots more to see there than I expected. It was so interesting to see and talk with the residents that lived there when the Presley's did.  The tour guide was so friendly and interesting.  I recommend everyone going there sometime.  It was quiet and peaceful, no crowds.  Nice to get away from the hustle and bustle of Memphis.

I drove to see the Fans Forever Wall at Elvis Presley Heights, and it was nice to see that the Stuck On Elvis Fan Club was 2nd. on the wall ! Drove by Elvis Presley Lake and stopped in at Johnny's Drive Inn to see all the Elvis pictures on the walls there.  Also bought a book there called, The True Presley History.  Cool.

Drive back to the hotel and get ready for the final show of the Images of the King.  Great show and Bobby won Peoples Choice Award! We are all so proud of him.

Now it is off to Graceland for the Candlelight Vigil.  Weather was nice and not much of a crowd at midnight.  Sorry to say our wreath wasn't on a stand when we walked by.  Don't know where they used our stand  But it was nice anyway.

Got to bed around 3:30 a.m. and then up at 7 a.m. for the trip home.

We did stop at Nostalgiaville, to spend the last bit of money we had left.

Made it home just fine, just tired.
