Minutes for the Stuck on Elvis Fan Club, April 5, 2009 The following members attended:

News: The Ultimate Elvis Contest in Branson will be April 17-19.Bobby Simkins will be performing
in it. There are many other activities including Elvis
Karaoke and an Elvis Gospel Hour.
There are many Elvis Tribute Artist contests now through August leading up to the Ultimate Elvis contest in Memphis. Toronto, Baton Rouge, Tupelo, Ontario, Oregon, and Myrtle Beach all have contest schedule during the next 3 months.
Friday, April 10th at 8pm, Knuckleheads bar Held it's Elvis Spring Bash.
Cirque de Solei is premiering an Elvis themed show in Vegas. The public premier is scheduled for Jan. 8, 2010. We are not sure where yet.
Despite suggestions otherwise, Elvis In Concert has announced a new tour. It is set for the Spring of 2010, and will re-unite Elvis' TCB band, the Imperials, the Sweet Inspirations, Millie Kirkham and others. Honorary Fan Club member Terry Mike Jeffrey will also perform.
Elvis Week 2009 celebrates the 40th anniversary of Elvis' return to Las Vegas.
James Burton has been awarded a Grammy for his part in the Brad Paisley instrumental song "Cluster Pluck".
Nancy Walters, who played Abigail Prentice in Blue Hawaii is in the
hospital.
There are 4 new exhibits at Graceland.

A Dale Earnhardt/Elvis #3 car is now on display at Graceland. It will be there until April 29th.
J.D. Sumner's Tour bus is being restored and will eventually be on display in Tupelo. Elvis did drive the bus one time.
A blue/grey striped polo shirt of Elvis' is now on display in the Beatles museum in Liverpool, England.
There is a high school in Lakewood(state unknown) that is teaching an Evolution of Rock and Roll class. The class studies how Elvis and the Beatles influenced music. One student did note, "Elvis is better than the Beatles".
The gift shop/museum at Ft. Chafee, Arkansas is open. Elvis received his Army haircut there. www.gottahaverockandroll.com auctioned a poem said to be written by Elvis. The poem brought $13,798.
Country Music Television (CMT) has a new show called "Cribs". Graceland is featured this month beginning on April 11th.

Bill Black and D.J. Fontana were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in the "Sideman" category.
Red West will be appearing in another movie. It is titled Goodbye Solo. Release date is unknown at this time.
There will be an auction on September 4, 2009. The auction includes Elvis'
Vera's store in Independence has some new Elvis items including small buckets, eco-friendly grocery bags, post-it notes, and bathroom rugs.
Barnes and Noble is selling a new 4-disc CD of Elvis's Gospel recordings. It is titled I Believe and sells for $42.
They also have a new book called Icons of Time that features Elvis for $9.99.
Bobby Simkins appeared in the Kansas City Star on March 19, 2009.
The designers at Keepsake Ornaments have created some Elvis figures, but they will only be displayed at their headquarters.
Beginning April 7th, Graceland will be lit up in orange to commemorate
Animal Cruelty.
The Bradford Exchange has new Elvis items. They are selling an Elvis Teacup and saucer set, Elvis belt buckles, and an Elvis Cuckoo Clock.
Marbon's Cafe and Soda Shop at 12018 E. 47th St. is carrying some Elvis items in their gift shop. They also offered to let the Stuck on Elvis Fan Club use their restaurant area for a meeting sometime.
Former ETA winner Shawn Barker has quit doing Elvis Tributes and become a Johnny Cash Tribute artist.
Stuck on Elvis fan club received a thank you from the Harvesters. We recently donated 148lbs of food to them. Treasurer's report: It was noted that we did not make any monetary donations to Charity last year.
The Fan Club approved donations of $100 to the following 3 Charities:
Lyric of Life, Ronald McDonald House, and the Junior Diabetes Research Foundation.
The Fan Club activity this evening was a Silent Auction of Elvis memorabilia. The items were donated by a lady whose house was struck by lightning.
The
meeting officially adjourned to bid on the auction items at 6:45pm until
7:15p.m
