In 1970, Elvis Presley filmed his first documentary. It was appropriately named, Elvis: That's the Way It Is. A virtual thrill ride, this video begins in the rehearsal studio and takes us right up and thru opening night at the Las Vegas International Hotel. In my opinion, if you only purchase one Elvis video in your lifetime, (which I can't imagine), this should be it. It's pure Elvis--unchained, uninhibited, unplugged and at his very best.

It was on Jan. 9, 1970 when he received the prestigious U.S. Jaycees award. Being named as one of the "Ten Outstanding Young Men of America" was one of his most personally rewarding achievements.

Our favorite songs in 1970 were "Don't Cry Daddy," "The Wonder of You" and "You Don't Have to Say You Love Me."

The name Elvis Presley had become so important by 1972, that the southern portion of Bellevue Boulevard (Highway 51 S.) in Memphis was renamed Elvis Presley Boulevard.

In 1972 "Burning Love" burned its way thru the charts, landing at # 2. It remains a favorite among Elvis fans.

Elvis on Tour was released in 1972. This documentary combines a medley of his best songs and costumes, for an outstanding array of sequins, glitter and pizzazz.

The divorce of Elvis and Priscilla Presley became final on Oct. 9, 1973.

By the magic of satellite, Elvis: Aloha from Hawaii , was broadcast on worldwide TV on January 14, 1973.

In 1975, "Promised Land" hit the billboards at #9 in the UK and #14 in the US.

"Moody Blue" and "Suspicion" were our favorites in 1976.

Still pounding out the magic until the very end, his rendition of "Way Down " in 1977 hit #1 in the UK.

On June 18, 1977 Elvis performed in Kansas City, Missouri. I still hold the ticket stubs, as well as the memories of that concert. The experience of being part of the audience during a live Elvis Presley Concert is something you carry with you always. Totally mesmerized by his mere presence and the love that fills every corner of the room is an experience beyond belief.

It was August 16, 1977 when the devastating news hit the. The news hit the world so hard that most fans remember to this day exactly what they were doing when they heard those horrible words. Elvis had been found dead in his bathroom on the second floor of Graceland Mansion

Some of his greatest songs were released in the '70s. His outstanding performances of "The American Trilogy," "Hurt," and "Unchained Melody," could bring an audience to its feet like no one else. Elvis Presley is beyond a doubt, the greatest entertainer of the 20th century.
