Bright light city gonna set my soul
Gonna set my soul on fire.
Got a whole lot of money that's ready to burn,
So get those stakes up higher.

Viva Las Vegas with your neon flashin'
And your one armbandits crashin'
All those hopes down the drain.
Viva Las Vegas turnin' day into nighttime
Turnin' night into daytime
If you see it once
You'll never be the same again.

Elvis belting out that great Vegas song just comes naturally to mind, the minute your plane approaches the runway of the Las Vegas airport.

First stop: Where did you get that drink ?

The first thing upon arriving in Vegas and dropping off your luggage is to trade in some of that hard earned money for a bucket of disposable coins. Then take out a few more dollars and find the largest, most colorful, strangest looking drink you can. With the drink in one and the coins in the other, you're ready to go, Las Vegas style.

Second stop: Elvis Slot Machines

Easy to find, the slot machines start calling you the minute you drop off your bags. Just look for the bright flashing neon signs, or listen and I'll bet money you'll soon hear the familiar voice singing out one of those remarkable Elvis songs that we all know and love.

Once you've settled at a machine, drop in a few coins and watch the gold records go around. Where she stops nobody knows. But you can bet if it's a winner Elvis will be performing on that little video screen. You not only win money but also a great Elvis tune. How great is that !!

Just a few of the hotels with the new fun Elvis machines are, the Stratosphere, The Boardwalk, Tropicana, Excalibur, Luxor, New York, New York, MGM Grand, Mandalay Bay, Venetian, Bellagio, and Balleys

Next stop: The Vegas Shows

One of the best shows on the strip is at the Stratosphere. It's the one to see for remarkable look-alike, sound-alike performances of Elvis, Gloria Estefan, Charlie Daniels, Madonna, and Michael Jackson in "The American Superstars." Darren Lee does a fantastic Elvis tribute. He really rocks the house in true Elvis style.

I had the pleasure of talking with Darren both before and after the show. What a great guy he is, on and off-stage. For more information about Darren Lee check the exclusive interview we did with him recently, right here on the Suite "The One and Only Darren Lee" .

The dealers at all the tables are all impersonators  Elvis, Neil Diamond, Marilyn Monroe, Tom Jones, Elton John, Buddy Holly, Dolly Parton, and Garth Brooks.

"The Dream King" starring Trent Carlini is at the Boardwalk. Trent portrays all three eras in his remarkable "Dream King" show.

Steve Connolly's performing at Bally's for his "Love Him Tender" show.

Then walk down the famous Las Vegas Strip to The MGM Grand and watch Johnny Seaton as he performs three free lounge shows daily. Each show totally different songs and outfit.

On May 19 we'll tour the brand new Las Vegas attraction "Elvis-A-Rama Museum"

Words and music to "Viva Las Vegas," by Doc Pomus and Mort Shuman.

Note a lot of changes have been made since this article was written
as the totally awesome Matt Lewis has been added to the showroom in The Imperial Palaces new Legends like show starring as Elvis and iN A MUST SEE PERFORMANCE.

On another goodnews/badnews situation I'm happy to say I found my dream to the tune of $1,000 on an Elvis machine at the Westward Ho in 2003. The bad news is the Westward Ho is presently being torn down to make way for the NEW Vegas.
